Fishing piers at 2 Flagler County parks closed for repairs

July 25, 2022 – The fishing piers at two popular Flagler County parks – Moody Boat Launch and Bing’s Landing – are closed for repairs.

The northern fishing pier at Bing’s Landing will be closed July 25 through August 7. The central pier by the pavilion will be closed the following two weeks, August 8 through August 21. Only one of four fishing piers at Bing’s will be closed at any given time.

The Moody Boat Launch fishing pier will be closed at least through August 21.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, but the repairs are necessary,” said Parks and Recreation Supervisor Craig Lenniger. “The fishing pier at Moody Boat Launch will take at least a month to repair and will be closed indefinitely as that timeline is uncertain at this time. We don’t want to set up a false expectation.”

Grant money from the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) – a special state taxing district for the continued management and maintenance of the Atlantic Intracoastal Way – will fund the repairs at Bings Landing.

“The County received funds from FIND’s Waterway Assistance Program for improvements to the seawall, a small concrete walkway, and a pedestrian bridge replacement,” said Public Lands and Natural Resource Manager Michael Lagassé. “Because we came in under budget on that first phase, we requested – and received – an amendment to the grant for additional improvements.”

Land Management and General Services, which is over the Parks and Recreation Division, have been working collaboratively on the Bing’s Landing project since the initial application to the Florida Inland Navigation District. In addition to repairing the two fishing piers, Flagler County will replace and update manatee educational and boat trailer signs, as well as some concrete repairs around the boat ramp and turning basin.
