Resolution 2022-31 submitted to St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners and County Administrator
At the September 12 St. Augustine City Commission Meeting, the Commission unanimously passed resolution 2022-31, supporting the creation of St. Johns County Public Housing Authority, an effort by St. Johns County. This authority would be able to provide direct resources to individuals in need of affordable housing.
The creation of the St. Johns County Public Housing Authority is the next step after St. Johns County Housing Finance Authority, which provides services for developers of affordable housing communities. This effort has already been supported by the St. Johns County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, as well as numerous residents.
“… The crisis that we’re facing in terms of workforce and affordable housing means our support for that program (St. Johns County Public Housing Authority) is essential at this point,” said St. Augustine City Commissioner Barbara Blonder at the September 12 meeting.
The resolution was signed and submitted to the Board of County Commissioners and the County Administrator.
