Superintendent's Newsletter: Week One 2022–23

Good evening, Flagler Schools families, teachers, staff, and administrators.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the kickoff of the 2022-23 school year. There is always a mix of emotions as we begin a new school year. We’ve all probably experienced excitement, nervousness, sadness, and happiness at some point this week. This is my 30th year in education and I still run through all these same feelings.

We all realize there are areas in which we can improve as we go into our first full week of classes. I am confident as we strive for excellence, we will improve. Whether it is getting students from class to class…or getting them onto our campuses, each day has different challenges and opportunities for us to get better.

I had the pleasure of visiting all our campuses Wednesday. The facilities looked great, thanks to our custodial and plant services teams. There were smiling faces everywhere I looked. Many students were happy to see friends, and our staff was equally happy to see the energy back on campus.

Whether you or your family is just now starting with us in VPK or kindergarten, or you have a high school senior entering their final stretch with us, we value each of you. Flagler Schools has incredibly dedicated faculty, staff, and administrators who are committed to optimizing their learning abilities and growing their talents.

Please enjoy this weekend and get ready for that full week next week, as we continue Elevating Excellence in Flagler Schools!

Working Together,

Cathy Mittelstadt
