City Commission will hold special budget meetings next Thursday

RA budget to be reviewed at 8:15am, city’s budget at 9:00am

On Thursday, August 18, starting at 8:15am, the commission, in its capacity as the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), will consider the proposed 2023 budget for the CRA.  Then starting at 9:00am, the commission will review the proposed budget for the city.

Both meetings will be held in The Alcazar Room of City Hall, located at 75 King St.  The meetings are open to the public and the agendas includes time for public comment. The meetings will also be streamed live and available for on-demand viewing the day following the meeting at www.CityStAugTV.com.

For the discussion of the city’s budget, commissioners will rely on two primary documents: the Proposed Budget 2023 and the five-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).

The budget document is a wealth of information with easy-to-read charts illustrating the $74.6 million budget’s revenue sources and areas of planned expenditures.  Of particular interest may be the summary list of highlights appearing on page 3 of the document.

Based on the discussions at the meeting, a second meeting may be held, if necessary, on Friday, August 19.  As needed, changes will be made to the proposed budget in the coming weeks and two additional special meetings will be held in September to review and approve the final 2023 Budget.  The first reading of the updated proposed budget will be on Thursday, September 8 and the second reading and final approval will be on Thursday, September 22. Both meetings will begin at 5:05pm in The Alcazar Room of City Hall and are open to the public.

The 2023 fiscal year begins on Saturday, October 1.
