For several months, the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has held numerous public meetings to form and refine its strategic plan. As business leaders know, a strategic plan is among the most important documents that guide the overall direction of the organization. Considering this, the Palm Coast-Flagler Regional Chamber has made an extra effort to attend multiple meetings and communicate with government officials and elected leaders to provide the business community’s input on the future direction of Flagler County Government.
Today (7-25-22), the Chamber testified in support of a draft of the county’s strategic plan, which is nearly complete. The draft plan outlines three goals in its economic section:
- Develop competitive advantages to attract businesses
- Diversify the tax base to improve the local economy
- Diversify housing programs to include affordable housing options
Additional importance is being placed on this strategic plan because it is the first developed under recently appointed Flagler County Administrator Heidi Petito. Similarly, the City of Palm Coast has been executing a strategic plan meeting and development strategy under their recently appointed City Manager Denise Bevan. Both Palm Coast and Flagler County strategic plans call for increased intergovernmental cooperation, a strategy the Chamber has actively supported. State Representative Paul Renner even commented at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting on the improved city-county relationship.
The Chamber supports both Flagler County’s and Palm Coast’s strategic plan progress and direction.
