Glabra Skipp receives Albert B. Herndon Award
On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, City of St. Augustine Environmental Program Coordinator Glabra Skipp was presented the 2021 Albert B. Herndon Award by the Florida Water Environment Association in recognition for her involvement in developing and implementing the city’s fats, oils and grease and industrial pretreatment programs, and for 12 years of extensive education outreach activities.
“The success of so many of our initiatives is due in large part to the dedication and commitment of Glabra. She has spearheaded most of our current programs… Only Rain Down the Drain, Your Toilet is Not a Trash Can, the Tree Canopy Program, and our used oil recycling events that have expanded now to include the Solid Waste Division, compost collection, and more,” Utilities Director Todd Grant said. “Glabra has been leading the city’s environmental programs and outreach efforts with great success and we are proud of this recognition at such a high level.”
Skipp started working for the City in 2009 as an Environmental Compliance Inspector. In 2019, she was promoted to Environmental Program Coordinator and currently supervises a team of two employees. Other areas of responsibility include managing grease trap inspections, backflow prevention, and illicit discharge.
