2022 Tourism Employee of the Year Award

28

St. Augustine & St. Johns County Visitor Information Center staff among winners

Each year, the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the Beaches Visitor and Convention Bureau recognizes outstanding employees in the county’s largest industry, tourism. Employee of the Year awards are presented in five categories: accommodations, attractions, government, restaurant/bar, and retail.

This year, Suzanna Schuyler-Vetter, Information Host for the St. Augustine & St. Johns County Visitor Information Center’s (VIC), was named recipient of the award in the government category, having been nominated by her supervisor.

In 2018, Suzanna started working as an Information Host at the VIC, after 20 years of dedicated service to the St. Augustine Police Department.

In addition to being an Information Host, Suzanna is a licensed tour guide and is fully trained to work in the Gift Shop. In the nomination, Suzanna is described by her supervisor as kind and caring, never hesitating to help wherever she can.

Suzanna’s service has been essential this past year, especially as the tourism industry as a whole has experienced staff shortages. Due to her dedication, flexibility and willingness to fill in wherever needed, the VIC was able to maintain the proper coverage to make sure guests were all well taken care of during the busiest tourism year ever experienced.

“Suzanna exudes a positive attitude and approaches everyone with a smile and an answer to their question,” said Jessica Joyce, VIC Visitor Services Supervisor. “ She is truly an ambassador of the City and leaves a lasting, positive, impression for our guests.”

The City congratulates Suzanna on this recognition.
