Flagler County Public Schools: School Calendar and Bell Schedule Approved

15

Flagler County Public Schools issued the following announcement on February 16.

At Tuesday night’s School Board meeting, Flagler County School Board members voted to approve the calendar for the 2022–2023 school year, as well as new start and end times for our schools.

By adjusting to these start and end times, Flagler-Palm Coast and Matanzas High Schools will start 10 minutes later than they currently do (8:10 a.m.) and end 25 minutes later (2:40 p.m.). This includes an additional 15 minutes to the overall length of the day for our high school students.

Students at Buddy Taylor and Indian Trails Middle Schools will start at 7:20 a.m., which is 5 minutes earlier, but will end at 1:40 p.m., which is the same as it is currently.

All Elementary schools shift to a 9:10 a.m. start time and a 3:40 p.m. end time. Right now, we have three different start and end times, but this adjusts the Wadsworth Elementary start and end to be 15 minutes later; Bunnell Elementary and Belle Terre Elementary to be 10 minutes later, and no change for Rymfire Elementary and Old Kings Elementary.

The District Calendar Committee reconvened after receiving feedback from various stakeholders across the community. Small tweaks were made to the Instructional Calendar which was first proposed back in December. The Instructional Calendar for the 2022–2023 school year is 179 days long, with the school year starting August 10, 2022. The last day of school is May 26, 2023, before Memorial Day.
