Palm Coast-Flagler Regional Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

“At 4.1%, county continues to outshine pre-pandemic low of 4.5%”

Flagler County’s unemployment rate declined to 4.1% in November 2021, according to the latest data release from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. This is the third consecutive month that Flagler’s unemployment rate remained below the pre-pandemic low of 4.5%, reached in February 2020.

Flagler County employment grew from 46,745 in October 2021 to 46,916 in November 2021, an increase of 171 jobs. The number of unemployed residents in Flagler County dropped from 2,166 in October 2021 to 1,991 in November 2021, a decrease of 175 residents. Meanwhile, the labor force remained flat at 48,907.

Greg Blosé, President & CEO of the Palm Coast-Flagler Regional Chamber of Commerce said, “Flagler County continues to head in the right direction, with 171 more residents finding work last month. The number of unemployed residents in our county declined by a similar amount, 175 people, indicating that residents are moving out of the unemployment line and into locally available jobs.”

“Our unemployment rate is trending in a positive direction, in part, due to the pandemic recovery and holiday shopping. As we look forward to Q1 of 2022, we can build on this positive momentum by strategically planning to work with economic forecasts favoring other verticals, including healthcare, to keep driving for growth. Our organization is keeping a watchful eye on the regional factors affecting our local economy, and international factors like the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus, to keep our community informed of what’s to come and how to work with the trends.”
