City of St Augustine: Celebrating importance of municipal government and the role it plays in residents’ quality of life

You

City of St Augustine issued the following announcement on October 13.

The City of St. Augustine will be joining cities throughout the state in celebrating Florida City Government Week from October 18-24, 2001.  Because city government is the government closest to most citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact upon its residents, it is important that residents understand how their city operates, the services it provides, its contribution to a better quality of life, and the importance of their own active involvement.

This year the City will promote the week with a daily short video recognizing the Fire Department, Police Department, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Water Treatment Plant, and the Municipal Marina.  Videos will be posted on the City’s Facebook page and Instagram page.

Florida City Government Week, sponsored by the Florida League of Cities, is a weeklong celebration that raises awareness about the importance of municipal government and its daily impact on residents. The League is the official organization of the municipal governments in Florida.
