The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 20 that nine people were arrested for driving under the influence during a countywide DUI Wolfpack Operation held in March. The operation took place between Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21, resulting in a total of 173 traffic stops.

The initiative aimed to target impaired drivers and reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The Wolfpack Operation was dedicated to the memory of Mark Sabri, who was killed by an impaired driver at the intersection of St. Johns Parkway and Silverlake Drive on January 2, 2024.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, “#TeamSJSO is committed to reducing deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving.” The office said the goal of such operations is “to educate about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.”

Officials encouraged community members to make safe decisions behind the wheel. “Make the right decision, drive safe, and help us lower and eliminate these statistics,” said representatives from SJSO.

Efforts like these reflect ongoing attempts by law enforcement agencies in St. Johns County to address issues related to impaired driving through targeted enforcement actions.
