Flagler County’s unemployment rate increased a half-of-a-percentage point to 3.2%, according to the January 2022 data release from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

“Because we saw Flagler County employers hiring more than we expected during the holiday shopping season, we should also expect those seasonal/temporary jobs to conclude in January 2023, which is what today’s report confirms,” said Greg Blosé, President & CEO of the Palm Coast-Flagler Regional Chamber of Commerce. “Year-over-year, Flagler County’s strong local economy is ahead of where we were in January 2022 by more than a full percentage point (January 2022’s unemployment rate was 4.3%).”

The number of Flagler County residents that are employed (either working in this county or another county) increased from 49,557 workers in December 2022 to 49,597 in January 2023, an increase of 40 residents.

The number of unemployed job-seeking residents in Flagler County increased (as expected due to seasonal jobs ending) to 1,651 in January 2023, an increase of 224 residents from last month’s report.

The Flagler County labor force has grown to more than 51,000 residents, checking in at 51,248 residents in January 2023.
