March 14, 2023 – Flagler County has released to the public its 2022 Annual Report following its recent presentation to the Board of County Commissioners. The 60-page document highlights the year’s achievements and the day-to-day work of more than 400 staff members – dedicated professionals – committed to enriching the quality of life to make the county an even more ideal place to visit, conduct business, and live.

“Coming in as the newly appointed County Administrator, 2022 was a time for change, a time for focus, and a time to take stock in Flagler County’s future,” Heidi Petito said. “The year served as an opportunity for us to revise and update our Strategic Plan with clearly defined county vision, mission, and organizational values. We have developed the ongoing framework for performance excellence, with a focus on Effective Government, Economic Vitality, Public Health Safety, and Growth Infrastructure.”

The 2022 Annual Report focuses on countywide collaborative efforts such as: beach and dune management planning; emergency medical services; the legislative program; long-term capital planning; parks and recreational facilities planning; the state’s resiliency and vulnerability study; and, stormwater master planning.

It covers the structure that supports Flagler County’s core values – “Putting Flagler F.I.R.S.T.” – Fiscally Accountable, Innovative Solutions, Responsible Growth, Superior Service, and Transparent Government. It also touches on the strategic planning process that resulted in a finalized plan in less than one year.

There are interesting did-you-know tidbits sprinkled throughout the 2022 Annual report, like “Flagler County has received $15 million in Legislative appropriations in the last two years!” There is also a “Budget in Brief” section that provides an overview of the $221,970,665 total budget.

Most of the document, of course, provides an at-a-glance view of 19 departments and divisions. It also provides a glimpse of the 13 Citizens Committees that provide residents with an opportunity to participate in county government.

“We all do better together, and our strong relationships with our municipal partners and state agencies has led to more teamwork and collaboration than ever before. We have brought forward a unified voice for Flagler’s Legislative Program, held purposeful summits on long range planning and capital projects, economic development, resiliency, and the future of our community,” Petito said. “Together we are focused on our roadways, stormwater, vulnerability, dune and beach renourishment, conservation lands, public safety, and expansion of behavioral health services. It is a collective effort that moves our community forward, advancing a shared vision for Flagler County.”
